Prairie Dog 4.5 was hidden in a wine barrel at The Brewer’s Apprentice. We were really excited to hear about The Brewer’s Apprentice opening in Calgary because with so many amazing breweries opening in this province, it is so awesome to have a place we can go to sample and get growler/crowler fills of a variety of 48 different craft beers. The people at The Brewer’s Apprentice are amazing human beings who make the Calgary craft beer scene even brighter (who knew that was even possible?)!

Congratulations Dan!

The second prairie dog was hidden at the Fish Creek Public Library. The Calgary public library system offers many resources for the people of Calgary. Everything from children’s play areas and quiet study rooms to workshops and special events all free! Libraries aren’t just for paperbacks anymore, we encourage you all to get a library card and to utilize this amazing resource.

Congratulations Lane!

Scott

Wow! One clue in and this prairie dog was found; many people hunted it, but only one was successful. This little guy was hidden on the egg structure at the Calgary Zoo. The egg structure was created by artist Brower Hatcher after an international call for submissions was taken in partnership with the City of Calgary Public Art Program. The Calgary Zoo’s conservation efforts are among the best in the world and specifically they are leading reasearch on Canada’s only remaining population of black-tailed prairie dogs (you can see why it would be near to our hearts!) to safe guard their future and the many species that rely on them.

Congratulations Scott!

Adam

The third prairie dog was hidden on the tractor trailer outside Common Crown Brewing. The guys up at Common Crown have been great friends to us. They were also among the breweries that passed down Village’s first boardroom table Now that we have our agency license we are contract brewing with them, which gives us the opportunity to debut our beer at Calgary International Beerfest 2018! This one was a harder one and required a team effort, but they found it. Congratulations to the one who gets to claim the prairie dog and receive your FREE meal a week for life!

Congratulations Adam!

Rob

This lil’guy was hidden in a trophy at the Vineyard. The Vineyard could be said to be somewhat of a foundation for the craft beer scene in Calgary! Neil Bamford has helped out many of the brewers who have opened craft breweries in the early days of their homebrewing, and true fact many of the commercial breweries in town still get some ingredients from Neil at the Vineyard. We are so honoured to have found our space across the street from them on Center st. and are looking forward to serving the many amazing homebrewers in town when they are on their way to or from picking up ingredients. The Vineyard is also the host of Calgary’s home brewing club the “Cowtown Yeast Wranglers“, if you are a homebrewer or are looking to get into homebrewing, we highly recommend joining this club! It is full of awesome people supporting each other and sharing in such a fun and rewarding hobby!

Congratulations Rob!

Joseph

This one set a record!!! Within half an hour of the first clue this lil’guy was found among the prairie dogs in Olympic Plaza downtown Calgary. This was the location of the medal ceremonies during the 1988 olympics and has remained a popular hang out place for visitors and locals alike.

Congratulations to Joseph!

Ramona

This golden prairie dog was hidden at J.Webb Wine Market at the Calgary Farmers’ Market. The Farmers’ Market supports many local producers and small businesses by giving them a retail space to sell their goods and thanks to some changes in legislation you may be able to find beer at the Farmers’ Market soon. J.Webb Wine Market is not just about wine! They also have a growler bar and they stock craft beer in their coolers; we truly appreciate businesses like these who support an industry we love so dearly!

Congratulations Ramona!

Good luck and have fun!
