California Common$4.25 – $17.00
We brewed this lager/ale hybrid as an homage to our close attachment with California, where most of Prairie Dog’s founders lived immediately prior to launching our business. This style resembles American Amber (Red) Ale, but it uses a unique strain of lager yeast, which was primarily used in “Steam Beers” during the early 20th century in San Francisco before dying out and being resurrected by Anchor Brewing (San Francisco) during the late 70’s. Our version is amber with a foamy head with a firm, old-school West-coast bittering/flavour hop to balance out the toasty, malty base and roasty undertones.
Coconut Brown Ale$4.75 – $19.00
Gold-medal winner at the 2019 Canadian International Beer Awards for Rookie of the Year! This signature brown ale is a Prairie Dog crowd favourite, which features a load of Alberta barley malt overlaid with a huge dose of shredded coconut that we toast in house prior to infusing into the beer. Flavourful but still extremely well-balanced, the base beer is nutty with a chocolate finish. A small, late-boil hop charge adds subtle tropical notes that interplay with the coconut, and the slight bitterness added by the hops offer a counterpoint to the sweeter coconut flavours, making it easy to have more than one.
Superb Radler$5.00 – $20.00
Our Super-B Hazy Wheat ale blended with orange and cranberry juices, to produce a fruity, quenching low-alcohol beverage with pleasant bread undertones.
Contains sulphites for stability.
Table Saison$4.25 – $17.00
Our table saison is pale, refreshing, flavourful and easy drinking with spicy and fruity notes.
At a lower-alcohol than our Strait Lace Saison, this straw-coloured table-strength saison features more noble hop spiciness along with plenty of the clove and fruit character that comes from our Belgian yeast. Bready malt flavours round out this refreshing, effervescent ale.
Uncle Eddie’s Stubborn (Oatmeal) Stout$4.50 – $18.00
Silver-medal winner at the 2018 Canadian International Beer Awards for Best Friday Cask.
A rich, dark stout with a thick, creamy head and full mouthfeel, having notes of coffee, caramel, and dark chocolate with background smoke character from our in-house-smoked flaked oats. Available on draft in 16-oz or 5-oz pours, or take it home in cans or growler jugs!
Little Bear Kölsch$4.25 – $17.00
Flavourful but easy drinking, our Kölsch-style ale is clean and crisp with a slightly sweet grainy flavour and a dry finish. Based on the German pilsner style, but fermented with ale yeast and lagered for several weeks, this beer has a pleasant, soft and surprisingly refreshing flavour profile that makes it stand tall beside its lager brethren.
Tail Twitcher IPA$3.00 – $16.00
Clear, amber and dry, this modern example of an American-style IPA bursts with tangerine, lemon and a resinous grapefruit character overlaid upon a tasty base of Alberta malts. Amarillo, Lemondrop and Mosaic hops are generously added late in the boil and throughout several massive dry-hop steps. In spite of the intense hop character, bitterness is balanced to allow the underlying malt flavour to shine through.
Jitter Bear Coffee Kölsch$9.00 – $16.00
Jitter Bear Coffee Kölsch is a fan-favourite of ours at Prairie Dog Brewing. It starts with our Little Bear Kölsch, which we then infuse with a premium Columbian dark-roast coffee from Rebel Bean (Okotoks, AB), which brings milk chocolate, toffee and caramel notes to the beer – no harsh coffee bitterness at all. Combined with the sweetness and honey notes from our Little Bear, this beer tastes like a Coffee Crisp bar in a glass.
